Integrative Physiotherapy in Traumatology and Orthopedics, Women's Health, and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
What is Integrative Physiotherapy?
Integrative physiotherapy is a physiotherapy approach that considers both physical, mental, and emotional aspects in the treatment of health disorders. This approach can be applied to all areas of physiotherapy, including the areas in which I work:
TRAUMA-ORTHOPEDIC PHYSIOTHERAPY
PHYSIOTHERAPY IN WOMEN'S HEALTH
PELVIC FLOOR PHYSIOTHERAPY
Integrative Physiotherapy in Traumatology and Orthopedics
Traumatology and Orthopedic Physiotherapy is the area of physiotherapy that treats the musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, joints, ligaments, tendons, and fascia):
acute and chronic pain (including myofascial syndrome)
prevention and rehabilitation of injuries to the musculoskeletal system
other changes in the locomotor system
Disorders of the musculoskeletal system can lead to mental and emotional changes, just as mental and emotional changes can lead to physical health problems. When we experience chronic stress, we can develop vulnerabilities in the musculoskeletal system and other bodily systems. Acute injuries and chronic pain can generate anxiety, depression, and other mental and emotional changes.
In Integrative Physiotherapy in Traumatology and Orthopedics, patients are evaluated and treated holistically, considering their mental and emotional aspects as well as their physical ones. Chronic pain is not seen as a simple biomechanical alteration, but also as an alteration of posture and psychophysical functioning in the world. Your body carries your injuries, your traumas, and your history.
Integrative Physiotherapy in Women's Health and Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy
Women's Health Physiotherapy is the area of physiotherapy focused on the care of specific health disorders affecting women at different stages of life. It includes:
Urogynecology and Coloproctology: pelvic floor rehabilitation (urinary or fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, pain and prolapse)
Obstetrics (preparation for childbirth, pain relief during pregnancy, and postpartum recovery from diastasis and pelvic floor changes caused by childbirth)
Female sexual dysfunctions (dyspareunia - pain during sexual intercourse, vaginismus and vulvodynia).
Mastology and Oncology (post-surgical care for breast and gynecological cancer, prevention and treatment of lymphedema - swelling in legs and arms, improvement of mobility and quality of life after oncological surgeries)
General gynecology (relief of dysmenorrhea - menstrual pain and premenstrual tension, relief of climacteric and menopause symptoms)
Multifactorial disorders with a higher incidence in women (such as fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome)
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is physiotherapy focused on the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor (within women's health, it is physiotherapy in urogynecology and coloproctology).
In Integrative Physiotherapy for Women's Health, all disorders are evaluated and treated holistically, considering both physical, mental, and emotional symptoms. In this way, we achieve much more lasting and efficient results. A woman's body carries her entire history, and each phase of life brings different challenges that need to be faced and overcome so that she can have holistic health.
What is my work like in Integrative Physiotherapy?
In physiotherapy, integrative therapies and classic physiotherapy techniques are often combined to influence the emotional, mental, and physical aspects of the patient, treating them holistically. With all my patients, I always work holistically, seeking the complete health of the individual.
In my clinical practice, I use the Integrative Neuroscience Bridge Method®, in which I use the most current knowledge of neuroscience to apply manual therapeutic resources, phytotherapy, aromatherapy, yoga therapy, meditation, neurosupplementation, and non-invasive electrotherapy and neuromodulation devices, in order to balance the functioning of the nervous system and treat psychophysical alterations such as anxiety, insomnia, burnout, menopausal symptoms, postpartum symptoms, urinary incontinence, chronic pain, myofascial disorders, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and other health disorders.
The nervous system controls the functioning of the entire body. With excessive stress and constant overload, it often becomes unbalanced, causing psychophysical problems that commonly do not appear in traditional examinations. This means that no biological causes of the symptoms are found, but patients continue to have complaints. This happens because psychophysical problems can be more "functional" than "structural." They may stem from a "dysregulated" nervous system that needs to be restored and rebalanced.
With Integrative Physiotherapy according to the Bridge Method of Integrative Neuroscience®, we are able to restore the proper balance of the nervous system, starting from the body and also influencing the mind and emotions.
