Non-Invasive Neuromodulation

What is Non-Invasive Neuromodulation?

Neuromodulation is any technique that affects the nervous system (central or peripheral) in a facilitatory or inhibitory way, that is, facilitating or inhibiting its natural function. Non-invasive neuromodulation is the set of techniques that do this non-invasively, that is, without surgery. The non-invasive neuromodulation techniques I work with include tDCS and tVNS.

Although both are neuromodulation techniques, tDCS and tVNS differ in several aspects regarding their effects and applications. Each technique has different applications and may be more suitable in different cases and at different times. Non-invasive neuromodulation should always be prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional after a thorough assessment of the patient's case, and the application should only be performed by a professional; unsupervised self-administration is not recommended.

Non-invasive neuromodulation techniques have short- and long-term effects on the nervous system (depending on how they are applied), and are considered safe when applied within the safety parameters established by scientific studies. However, these techniques can cause significant side effects and harm if applied incorrectly and should not be performed without the supervision of a healthcare professional trained in neuromodulation.

tDCS

tDCS (Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation) is a device that generates an electrical current which, when applied to the scalp, alters the membrane potential of neurons. Electrical stimulation can be applied to both the central nervous system (transcranially) and the peripheral nervous system (transmedullary).

tVNS

Transcutaneous Vagus Nerve Stimulation (tVNS) can be performed in the cervical region (tcVNS) or auricular region (taVNS). This stimulation is a neuromodulation technique focused on the electrical stimulation of the vagus nerve, a nerve that is very important for physical and mental health (for more information on the vagus nerve, see the page "Regulation of the Nervous System and the Vagus Nerve" ).

What is treatment like with Non-Invasive Neuromodulation?

Transcranial Direct Current Neuromodulation

tDCS electrodes are placed on the patient's scalp.

The stimulus generated by the device reaches the brain.

stimulating or inhibiting the activity of the area to which it is applied.

This results in an increase or decrease in the activity of the treated brain area.

which results in altered brain function and its influence on the body.

Therefore, to correctly apply neuromodulation, it is necessary to understand the functions of the different brain areas and their effects on the body.

Transcutaneous Neuromodulation of the Vagus Nerve

The vagus nerve runs from the central nervous system to the internal organs within the abdominal cavity. Along this entire path, the part of the body where it passes most superficially is near the cervical region and the ear.

In tVNS, two electrodes are placed on the cervical spine, and in taVNS, two clip-shaped electrodes are placed on the patient's ear, generating an electrical stimulus that modulates the activity of the vagus nerve.

Modulating vagus nerve activity indirectly influences both the functioning of the central nervous system and the functioning of the body, generating the therapeutic effects of this therapy.

Warning: seek a qualified professional!

Non-invasive neuromodulation, despite being a simple technique to apply, is not a simple therapy to prescribe, as it requires in-depth knowledge of the functioning of the nervous system. Therefore, always seek a well-trained professional!

What you can expect from Non-Invasive Neuromodulation treatment:

NMNIEf-FeelEnergized.jpeg

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Reduction or even elimination of chronic pain, with improvement in fatigue.

NMNIEf-MentalHealth.jpeg

MENTAL HEALTH

Reduction or even elimination of symptoms such as anxiety and depression.

NMNIEf-CognitiveImprovement.jpeg

COGNITIVE IMPROVEMENT

Improved memory, concentration, and learning, among other benefits.

Non-invasive neuromodulation treatment focuses on the SYMPTOMS. In some pathologies we can act directly on the cause of the problem, but in others we cannot. Regardless of the pathology being treated, the initial focus is always on attenuating or, if possible, eliminating the symptoms that most bother the patient.

The time to live well is now!

Improve your quality of life and reduce (or even eliminate) your symptoms QUICKLY and LASTINGLY with a CUTTING-EDGE treatment, based on neuroscience and SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN (depending on the pathology treated, neuromodulation may be level A evidence, meaning 100% scientifically proven results). But always remember that neuromodulation treatment has rapid and lasting effects only IF DONE PROPERLY. Otherwise, it is not possible to guarantee that the results will be maintained over time. Come with me to change your health and your life!

Who will guide you on this journey?

DCL Professional Profile 2026.png

Nice to meet you, I'm Cassandra Lyra. I'm a physiotherapist graduated from USP (University of São Paulo) and hold a PhD in psychology and molecular neuroscience. I have a postgraduate degree in Non-Invasive Neuromodulation, specializing in behavioral neuroscience, integrative therapies, and psychophysical disorders.

I am a person who is very close to my family and friends and who loves to study and practice activities such as yoga, cycling and dancing, things that have always helped me a lot to maintain good physical and mental health in the face of life's challenges.

I strongly believe in the power of knowledge and practice combined, which is why my treatments address both practice and a touch of theory (understanding what happens in your body and mind is essential for the evolution of your condition). Having personally experienced anxiety disorder, depression, and panic attacks, with significant somatization, I understand very well what my patients go through and what is necessary to overcome psychophysical disorders.

Come with me to this cutting-edge, scientifically proven therapy that will change your life quickly and permanently! Non-Invasive Neuromodulation is an important part of the Ponte Integrative Neuroscience Method®, my comprehensive treatment method.
